Mindful Doodling
CLASS ONE - SEPTEMBER 23RD
We will work with pencil to create doodles as a means of tapping into our “inner child” to play and express thoughts, feelings, and spiritual insights.
This practice is a wonderful gateway into your inner landscape and allows for the freedom for you to simply be with whatever arises.
There will be time to journal as journaling allows you to document the experience and feelings that arise during the practice.
Creating an Abstract from the Heart
CLASS TWO - SEPTEMBER 30TH
In this class we will use mark-making to create an abstract piece of art and use color for expression allowing more time for your “inner child” to play.
Creating an abstract allows you to work from intuition. What materializes on paper reflects the energy that moves through your heart to your hands.
Journaling the experience of the class allows you to document the process and gives you a point of reference to repeat the process should you want to continue to create abstracts on your own.
Using Color and Perception
CLASS THREE - OCTOBER 7TH
Today’s class is about looking and seeing. We will use a still life of fruits, vegetables, or an object to look at for color, shape and line. We will look at what we think we see versus what is actually before us.
Using your intuition you will draw what you see with some coaching along the way. This class includes a short discussion about the color wheel and an opportunity to create your own color wheel in real time.
Once again you will use journaling to document your experience and note your feelings, emotions and insights gained.
Music as a Vehicle for Art Making
CLASS FOUR - OCTOBER 14TH
Music is evocative and in this class we will listen to four very diverse pieces of music to evoke emotion and imagery as you take the time to dive deeply along with the music.
As we listen you will create an intuitive expression using color, line, shapes, etc. that reflect back what the music evokes in you.
Journaling is again part of keeping the experience alive in the moment and in memory so that you can repeat the experience if you so desire.
Poetry as a Vehicle for Art
CLASS FIVE - OCTOBER 21ST
Art is expressed in many ways and one art form can truly be integrated with another. To that end, in this class we will view a video of a dance inspired by a poem.
We will then listen to a series of poems and create art that is a reflection of the emotions and insights evoked by each piece, once again engaging the inner child’s sense of play and wonder. This practice allows you to wander through your inner landscape and reflect back what you encounter.
We will use journaling to both document today’s experience and summarize what has been gained over the last five weeks of practice.
